Lokman Doubles Fires Nigeria To Quarterfinals Against Angola

Resilient Saudi Arabia Held Poor Performing Super Eagles To A Draw Png

In a competitive AFCON competition, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated the indomitable Lions of Cameroon to book their spot in the quarterfinals against Angola. Nigeria broke the deadlock in the first half after VAR ruled out their first goal.

Nigeria has scored 5 goals in all competitions, conceded just one goal. While Cameroon has scored 5 and conceded 8 goals.

Nigeria took an early lead but the VAR ruled it out. The Super Eagles continued to put pressure on the defense of the Cameroon side, but lacks the finishing touches.

Not until the 36th minute, when Nigeria broke the deadlock. Ademola Lokman is on target to give Nigeria a 1-0 advantage.

Vincent Abubakar came in second half. Abubakar was the highest goal scorer in the AFCON 2021. Recall that PitakwaNews reported that Abubakar couldn’t start the Cameroon group matches because of his knee injury.

Nwabali was replaced by Francis Uzoho. Nwabali got a knee injury, where he was pulled out from a stretcher.

Nigeria doubled the lead, thanks to Lokman who made the mark with his second goal in the game.

Early Onana absent in the starting lineup has generated a lot of talking points. Football lovers think if Onana couldn’t make the starting lineup, then why was he called.

Recall that Onana only played the game between Senegal where the Cameroon were beaten 3-1
