Video: 3 Dead and 2 Other Victims Hospitalized in Bonny/Nembe Jetty Fire Incident
An unconfirmed number of people are still missing after the fire at the Bonny/Bille/Nembe Jetty in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Some boat drivers say three persons died and two other victims were hospitalised.
They told our correspondent that the fire affected four market-passenger boats carrying about 200 people. The newly commissioned jetty and goods loaded for neighbouring communities in Rivers and Brass in Bayelsa State were also destroyed.

The fire was put out through the efforts of residents who accused the fire service of failing to answer distress calls.

The incident happened this evening. An online video showed workers at the jetty trying to put off the fire.

Yesterday, an eyewitness said the boat where the fire started was loaded with illegally refined petroleum products popularly known as ‘kpofire’.
