NLC Members Protest In Port Harcourt Over Economic Hardship

The NLC protest across the state is gaining momentum. Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Benin City, and Enugu NLC members were seen raising their flags chanting, A hungry man is an angry man. Some placard reads “F.G Nigerians are Hungry.

NLC President Joe Ajero said the protest is as a result of hunger in the country and for Federal Government to consider the new minimum wage.

Recall that PitakwaNews reported that TUC and other trade union groups pulled out of the protest, which they believed that the country is in good hands.

In Lagos, police were seen distributing waters to the protesters. PitakwaNews reports that police were placed on red alert to avert any violence. The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) says it has deployed personnel nationwide and placed officers on red alert. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said the Force is committed to ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights and freedom to engage in the protests.
