NLC And TUC Tackle President Tinubu Over Comments

The Nigeria Labour Congress has told President Bola Tinubu that members of the union are not interested in any political position including his office. Recall that the President during the inauguration of the Lagos Red Line Project on Thursday, told Labour unions to stop their protests and maintain peace as they are not the only voice for Nigerians. He also told them to wait for 2027 if they want to participate in the electoral process.

But the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in a statement asked the President to focus on governance rather than politicking. Mr Ajaero also said that President Tinubu’s insinuation that Labour lacked the moral ground to challenge his administration barely nine months into office is deeply troubling.

In the same vein; the President of the TUC, Festus Osifo, said members of the TUC are unionists, not politicians and have the right to protest. Mr Osifo who spoke on Channels Television said some things led to the protests and those fundamental issues must be addressed.
