Tinubu Signs Student Loan Bill Into Law

President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Students Loan Amendment bill into law, in a ceremony at the State House. The bill was initially signed in June 2023 to provide financial assistance to Nigerian students in tertiary institutions. However, its implementation has faced delays due to various issues hindering its rollout.
The president thanked the National Assembly for their expeditious handling of the bill, stating that education is the tool to fight against poverty effectively.
He further emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that education is given the proper attention necessary for the country, including skills development programs, to ensure that no one, no matter how poor their background is, is excluded from quality education and the opportunity to build their future.
Nigerian citizens, rejoice! Recent developments from the National Assembly committees on tertiary institutions and TETFund have ensured that the opportunity for higher education is available to all.
As stated by one Nigerian citizen, “we are here because we are all educated and were helped.” It is time to ensure that future generations do not miss out on the chance to pursue their dreams. Let us all celebrate this progress and continue to support education in Nigeria.
