EFCC Recovers 50bn From Betta Edu, Says 50 Bank Accounts Under Investigation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made significant progress in the case involving Betta Edu, recovering a whopping N30 billion from the N37,170, 855,753.44 allegedly laundered in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. This recovery is part of the ongoing probe into the activities of the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, and other individuals linked to the ministry.

In addition to the recovered funds, the EFCC has placed 50 bank accounts under investigation as they continue to unravel the complex web of financial transactions. These accounts are believed to be connected to the alleged financial misconduct within the ministry.

The investigation has also led to the seizure of the passports of Betta Edu and her predecessor, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, to prevent them from leaving the country.
