Jamb Pegged 140 For University and 120 For Polytechnics
For the 2024/2025 academic session, the JAMB board has pegged 140 as the cut-off mark for universities, 120 for polytechnics, and 100 for colleges of education. This decision was reached after a consensus among stakeholders in the country’s education sector.
Notably, specific institutions have proposed higher cut-off marks. For example, the University of Lagos and the University of Benin proposed 200, while the Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos suggested the highest benchmark of 220. On the other hand, a significant number of universities, particularly those in the private sector, recommended lowering the benchmark to 120, but this was rejected.
The cut-off marks serve as a guideline for admissions into various institutions, but it’s important to note that individual institutions may set their own cut-off points above the agreed minimum. This means that prospective students need to achieve scores at or above the set cut-off marks to be considered for admission into their desired programs.
