35 Cultists Arrested During Edo Initiation
The Edo State Police Command foiled a cult initiation ceremony in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, arresting 35 suspected cultists. This operation was part of the ongoing efforts to curb cultism in the state, and it took place on April 27, 2024. The suspects were reportedly members of the Vikings group, and they were apprehended at their initiation ground as they were about to initiate new members. This action was part of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Edo State. The Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, reiterated the command’s determination to eradicate cult activities and encouraged the public to assist the police with actionable information. He also advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against joining these deadly groups, emphasizing the negative consequences of such affiliations.
