I Have Defeated My Enemies Says Gov Fubara
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared victory over his political enemies, emphasizing that they are now the ones facing sleepless nights. This declaration was made during a solidarity walk to Government House in Port Harcourt on May 16, 2024, where he received the national and state leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC).
Fubara expressed his delight at the IYC’s assurance of unwavering support and urged the entire Ijaw Nation to actively participate in the ongoing celebration of the state’s newfound liberation. He noted that Major Isaac Adaka Boro genuinely stood for equity, justice, and fair play, and pursued his course to ensure liberation for the Ijaw people and their clans.
The governor stressed that every genuine Rivers man is a liberator, adding that he was delighted to receive the IYC members on such an auspicious day to re-enact the common purpose of liberation that they shared. He stated that the target of the renewed crisis in the state was to distract his one year in office celebration, but those behind it are now the ones sleeping with their eyes opened.
Fubara, while thanking the large crowd for their assurances of being available to respond to his call and stand by him, said there would not be any need to cause disruption of the peace, as according to him, the enemies of the state have been defeated already.
In response to the governor’s declaration, the National President of IYC, Mr Jonathan Lokpobiri, described the day as historic because Ijaw people were meeting with their Governor on Major Isaac Adaka Boro Day of Memorial. Lokpobiri said it affirms that the gods of the Ijaw people are at work, and warned all detractors to retrace their steps and allow the Governor, who has the full mandate of the people, to discharge his duties to Rivers people.
The Chairman of IYC, Eastern Zone, Tamuno Kpokpo, clarified that their visit wasn’t indicative of an ethnic conflict but rather aimed to offer support in safeguarding the interests and ongoing progress of Rivers State. Kpokpo emphasized that the IYC would vehemently oppose any individual or group attempting to disrupt governance in the state and urged for the governor to be allowed to govern peacefully.
In summary, Governor Fubara has declared victory over his political enemies, emphasizing the unity and support from the Ijaw Nation and urging for peace and progress in Rivers State.
