Photos: Gyang Bonyi Wins 2024 Rivers Marathon

Gyang Bonyi emerged as the champion of the inaugural Rivers International Marathon, held on June 1, 2024. He completed the race with an impressive time of 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 29 seconds, securing a remarkable victory. Bonyi’s outstanding performance earned him a prize of $10,000. Notably, he had also come in second place at the Lagos Marathon the previous year. The Rivers State Government, in collaboration with Arch Raphael Limited, organized the event, which coincided with the state’s 57th anniversary since its establishment on May 27, 1967, from the former Eastern Region of Nigeria. This marathon aimed to showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage and class, while also providing opportunities for youth engagement and stimulating businesses in the area.
