Detroit, MI – Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, co-founder of the infamous Black Mafia Family (BMF), has been released from federal prison and is now serving the remainder of his sentence at a halfway house.
Early Release
Big Meech, 53, was initially sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2007 for operating a massive cocaine distribution ring. However, his sentence was shortened by nearly three years, with his release confirmed by the Bureau of Prisons on October 15, 2024.
Background
Big Meech, along with his brother Terry Lee “Southwest Tee” Flenory, led the BMF, a sprawling criminal enterprise with over 500 members. The organization raked in over $270 million from cocaine sales across the United States.
Life Behind Bars
During his nearly two decades in prison, Big Meech focused on personal growth, earning his GED and completing various vocational programs. His attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, expressed joy at his release, stating:

Halfway House Details
Big Meech is currently residing at a community confinement program managed by the Miami Residential Reentry Management Office. The halfway house provides a structured environment for inmates to transition back into society.
