Father of Missing Hawaii Woman Hannah Kobayashi Found Dead in Los Angeles
Tragedy has struck the family of missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi, as her father, Ryan Kobayashi, was found dead in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 24, 2024. The 58-year-old had flown to Los Angeles to help search for his daughter, who went missing on November 8, 2024, after arriving at LAX airport from Maui, Hawaii.
Accidental Death
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Ryan Kobayashi’s body was found at the bottom of a car park at LAX airport at approximately 4 a.m. on Sunday. The LAPD has ruled the death as accidental, stating that Kobayashi appeared to have fallen from the top level of the car park.
Search for Hannah Continues
The investigation into Hannah’s disappearance is ongoing, and the family is still seeking information on her whereabouts. Hannah is described as being 5ft 10ins and around 140lbs, with brown hair, brown eyes, fair skin, and freckles. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
Hannah’s Family Speaks Out
The Kobayashi family has released a statement, saying that Ryan’s death has “compounded the family’s suffering immeasurably” and asking for support and prayers during this difficult time.
“We are heartbroken and shocked by the sudden loss of our beloved father and husband,” the statement read. “We are still trying to come to terms with the news, and we ask that you respect our family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

Ryan Kobayashi had been searching for his daughter for almost two weeks, handing out flyers to Los Angeles residents and asking for any information on her whereabouts. The family had also set up a social media campaign, #FindHannah, to raise awareness and gather tips.
