Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has declared that the sit-at-home order has been defeated in the state. This comes after the governor urged residents to disregard the illegal order and go about their normal activities.
The sit-at-home order, which was initially declared by some faceless non-state actors, was purportedly to protest the killing of a popular Ogene musician, Okezie Mba, aka Igbo Jah, by a police officer. However, the state government described the sponsors and promoters of the sit-at-home as enemies of Enugu State and the Igbo nation.
Governor Mbah assured residents that the state government and security agencies had taken decisive action to ensure that anyone found culpable in the musician’s death would be severely punished. He also vowed to muster all powers at his disposal to protect the lives and property of the people.
“We will not allow a few misguided individuals to hold our state hostage,” Governor Mbah said in a statement. “We urge all residents to go about their normal activities, as the state government and security agencies are fully committed to maintaining law and order.”
The defeat of the sit-at-home order is a welcome development for Enugu residents, who have been counting their losses due to the frequent disruptions to economic activities. The state government has also announced plans to compensate businesses and individuals who were affected by the sit-at-home order.
REACTIONS FROM RESIDENTS
Residents of Enugu State have expressed relief and gratitude to the state government for defeating the sit-at-home order. Many have taken to social media to commend Governor Mbah for his decisive action.
“I’m so grateful to Governor Mbah for standing up to these faceless individuals,” said Mrs. Ngozi Okoro, a trader in Enugu. “We can’t allow them to disrupt our lives and businesses. We need to move forward and focus on developing our state.”
Mr. Emeka Okeke, a businessman in Enugu, also praised the governor’s efforts. “Governor Mbah has shown that he’s a leader who cares about the welfare of his people,” he said. “We’re grateful for his decisive action, and we’ll continue to support him in his efforts to develop our state.”
SECURITY AGENCIES COMMEND GOVERNOR MBAH
Security agencies in Enugu State have commended Governor Mbah for his efforts in defeating the sit-at-home order. The agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), have assured residents that they will continue to work with the state government to maintain law and order.
“We’re committed to supporting the state government in its efforts to maintain peace and security in Enugu State,” said the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Ammani. “We’ll continue to work together to ensure that our state remains safe and secure for all residents.”
The defeat of the sit-at-home order is a significant victory for Governor Mbah and the Enugu State government. It demonstrates the governor’s commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of residents.
