WAEC INTRODUCES RESIT EXAMS FOR WASSCE CANDIDATES
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced a groundbreaking initiative that allows candidates who sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to resit their exams as early as January and February 2025. This move is aimed at helping students improve their grades quickly, making them eligible for the next admission cycle without the usual year-long wait.
The new program, called WASSCE PC1, enables students to retake specific papers they didn’t perform well in. According to WAEC, this initiative is designed to provide candidates with an opportunity to improve their grades and meet the requirements for admission into tertiary institutions.
“To participate in the WASSCE PC1 program, candidates must register online through the WAEC website or at accredited internet cafes by January 8, 2025,” said a WAEC spokesperson. “The exams will take place from January 24 to February 15, 2025.”
Some key benefits of this initiative include:
Faster Grade Improvement: Students can improve their grades quickly, making them eligible for the next admission cycle.
Increased Flexibility: Candidates can retake specific papers they didn’t perform well in, rather than having to retake the entire exam.
Detailed Feedback: WAEC will provide chief examiners’ reports, offering detailed feedback on areas where students struggled and guidance on how to improve.
“We are excited to introduce this new initiative, which we believe will have a positive impact on the education sector,” said the WAEC spokesperson. “We are committed to providing candidates with the support they need to succeed, and we are confident that the WASSCE PC1 program will help achieve this goal.”
It’s worth noting that students whose results have been cancelled due to malpractice are not eligible to participate in the WASSCE PC1 program. Additionally, candidates who have already registered for the November/December WASSCE diet are not eligible to participate in the WASSCE PC1 program.
The introduction of the WASSCE PC1 program is a significant development in the education sector, and it is expected to have a positive impact on students who are seeking to improve their grades. With this new initiative, WAEC is demonstrating its commitment to providing candidates with the support they need to succeed.
As the registration deadline approaches, candidates are advised to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their grades and secure their future. With the WASSCE PC1 program, WAEC is providing candidates with a second chance to succeed, and it is up to the candidates to take advantage of this opportunity.
