Rivers State Government Releases RSU Campus for Federal University of Environment in Ogoniland

In a significant development, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the release of the Kira Campus of the Rivers State University (RSU) for the take-off of the newly approved Federal University of Environment and Technology in Ogoniland. This decision follows a request from the Office of the National Security Adviser and approval from President Bola Tinubu.

During his visit to the Kira Campus, Governor Fubara assessed the condition of the existing facilities and structures, expressing satisfaction with the renovations carried out by the RSU authority. He emphasized that the campus’s existing structures and vast land will provide a suitable environment for the new university to commence learning activities.

The Governor highlighted the benefits of the new university, citing its potential to bring development, increase educational levels, and serve as a study group for environmental impact issues in the region. This move demonstrates his commitment to supporting education and environmental sustainability in Rivers State.

“It is our belief that the Federal University of Environment and Technology will not only provide opportunities for our young people but also serve as a hub for research and innovation in environmental sustainability,” Governor Fubara said.

The Governor emphasized that the property belongs to the Rivers State University, owned by the Rivers State Government, and that the state government has the sole right to formally release the property to the Federal Government. He assured that an official letter of release will be transmitted to the Federal Government.
