The Rivers State government is on top of the situation, with government monitoring teams raiding fuel stations and ordering them to close shop until further notice.

Mr Uchechukwu said: “It is illegal for any petrol station owner or operator to sell above pump price especially those who have been operating for more than five years in the market.”

He added that the Rivers State Ministry of Transportation had ordered all filling stations within its jurisdiction not to sell more than the fuel price per litre.

However, some reports say the fuel station was shut because it was selling at N500. As at this report, the names of the stations were not made public.

The fuel scarcity is a problem in Port Harcourt, and the government has introduced measures to help ease it.

The fuel stations are selling at N500 per litre and people are forced to sleep at the fuel stations due to high prices. The government is shutting down these stations that are selling above pump price as part of its war against inflation.
